This guy has made a lot of waves in the local CG community by bagging recognitions from 3d allusions and CG architect.com, as a featured artist and as VIZmaster image of the week respectively. I for one was a witness to this guy’s development in the field of computer visualizations, having seen his ascent from the old 3dpinoy forum. We would eventually meet personally, and share some notes regarding this form of art. Our featured artist is no other than Mr. Bryan V. Jumarang, a.k.a. Enigma.

3DP: How did you discover 3d?

Bryan Jumarang:  I started as a draftsman in a local company here in the Philippines. I have been doing that for probably 2 to 3 years already. Then I felt that I needed to step-up, so I decided to learn 3D first in CAD, until Hans introdued 3dsmax to me. I think the first version that I got my hands on was ver 3.1.

3DP: Did it ever came across your mind that It would end up to be your Career?

Bryan Jumarang:  Actually, I never expected that doing 3d and rendering will eventually be my career, in fact, I took up BS Biology and AB Psychology before. I thought I’d be a doctor. I end up enjoying what I was doing to a point when all I wanted to do was model and render stuff, and it grew from a hobby into a passion.

3DP: We all know that 3dsmax and CAD are your weapons of choice, did you ever tried using other modeling software?

Bryan Jumarang:  I’ve tried other softwares, like bryce, maya, and lightwave, but I never got to be knowledgeable with those, it’s like, I am at home with 3dsmax.

3DP: Do you have any inspirations for doing 3d modelling and rendering?

Bryan Jumarang:  I have a lot of inspirations, first and foremost, the fellow Pinoys, who where very patient with me when I was just starting, and guys like, sir Jon, Celes, Vertex Wrangler, Tribal Tuesday, among others. From foreign works, I am specially driven by the works of chen qing feng.

3DP: Did you ever think of stopping?

Bryan Jumarang:;  Yes, it becomes an urge, especially when I already haven’t got any sleep for the last 48 hours. I guess, this is already my life.

3DP: Any future plans?

Bryan Jumarang:;  naku dami ko plano sir....basta...for as long as nakakapagpasaya ako ng client, happy sila happy ako, i guess tuloy tuloy lang ito... basta sir...hangga't nakakahawak ako ng mouse, nakakrecognize ako ng tamang kulay, he heh e di ko titigilan to.....

I have lots of plans. As long as I can make the client happy, I guess, I’ll keep on doing this. As long as I can hold a mouse, and I can recognize the right colors, I will not stop from creating 3d renders.
