3DP: What is your favorite tool in making your 3D artworks? Tito Cascante Maya , nothing special its just the tool Im comfortable with .and Im happy with that. 3DP: Do you come up with the concept in most of your works? Tito Cascante Most of it. I like to work closely with my client or else we end up of wasting time going back and forth on the same thing and going nowhere. Sometimes you have to start to show the client something first like a design out of the idea they have..maybe they saw from a movie or tv. From your own creation clients will send you bunch of comments. I can say its more easy to become an art director than a 3danimator. I love to draw a lot , Its more easy to refine work on pencil and paper than after dragging all the points you realize its not going to work. And its good to have more references to find the right level of quality you are looking for. Look for more possibilities and produce more images to present people around you why you are taking long time to produce your work. 3DP: What do you like the most about your job at Creative Original Gismo? Tito Cascante We’ll I like this company because they do their products from start to retail ,so we have the control on all the aspects of production , everyone cares. My co workers are nice and smart people. Sometimes I do illustrations for them which give me breaks from my 3d work so I don’t feel bored. |

3DP: How do you compare the 3D industry between The Philippines and Hongkong? Tito Cascante Hong Kong have the money and the resources but lack of manpower and talents, unlike Philippines most of the jobs I guess are projects from other countries but we do have lots of talents. Hong Kong is the business hubs of China imagine serving billions of Chinese. Philippines I believe can create better content but our market is not as big as US and China. This is I think a very simple way to dissect how animation industry get affected by its market. 5 years ago I can say maybe there is a huge difference but now Hong Kong reach on a stage where it flattens and goes in a strait line. Now everything and everywhere can produce the same quality of work, if you get the right people , the right budget and the right project. I guess its still boils down to productions budget like animator’s salary, which makes a big difference. Same as the salary in China and India, where some of the productions are sent because of the cheaper cost, but make sure it will still be made to its highest quality and I think that’s how we manage to compete. That’s what we have in Philippines an added value service because of its quality and our talent can easily adapt in other culture. |

3DP: In your own opinion, How do you rate the 3D industry in our country? Tito Cascante Its difficult to rate the 3d industry in the Philippines specially when considering the availability of good hardware and software user, good projects and good collaborators in movies and commercial , Good manageable budget and very efficient schedule to pull out a good resulting project , sometimes budget is proportionate to time if you save time you save money. If you manage and schedule your time its good for every production ,like I gave you a week deadline to finish a job you will tend to get lazy because you have more time to sit around and play . but if u have a tight deadline you will need to schedule yourself to finish it .Same as if all work and no play , your performance will suffer. In a global perspective, some of our talents are doing the best work in other countries , and if good productions are moved to Philippines its going to be the same quality , we will be hiring experts from different places , like what happened on New Zealand Weta where experts are being brought in. I guess the workmanship has no difference or maybe better. 3DP: What can you advice to our fellow Filipinos who aspires to be a 3d artist? Tito Cascante We’ll enjoy and love your work, If u have the passion go for it .You know its not easy but its a cool job , prepare to have a good relationship with your second girlfriend /boyfriend, your computer . Keep on learning new things and harness your creativity. Need a lot of discipline and dedication. |
