3DP: When creating designs, to what extent do you have to consider limitations or are you pretty much free to come up with anything?

Eldy Tendero Jr:I remember 3dmax’s tagline with their earlier version, “Endless Possibilities”. If the program I am using supports what I wanted to achieve then pushing myself to do a complicated task would be considered a challenge.

3DP: You won one of the Evermotion Competition. Tell us a bit how it all happened and what it means to you winning such competition.

Eldy Tendero Jr: My entry to Evermotion’s speed modeling competition was just for fun. I was just browsing the site for some new tutorials and finished artworks when I saw that thread. So when I went back to my place with nothing much to do, I did some browsing on my books (sourcebook of modern furniture) and got interested in modeling some office chairs (which was also in the same book). While looking at the photos, I got the confidence that I can do it in less than 2h. And it was fun so I did 2 models in less than 4 hours even with vray rendered.

I really didn’t expect that I’d win but I did and I am very happy about it. Although it’s not really a big competition, it still gives me more self-confidence.

3DP: Are you working on any projects currently? If so, what are they?

Eldy Tendero Jr:The projects I’m doing right now are mostly organic. Temporarily I stopped doing architectural. I’m trying to concentrate right now on my new company doing product modeling and images to be used for POS materials and campaigns.

3DP: We know that inspiration is a crucial part in what you do. Can you tell us what is your main inspirations? How do you keep that kind of connection with what you’re doing?

Eldy Tendero Jr: Aside from my family, my inspiration comes from feedback on my work, artworks of great cg artists and fellow 3dpinoy artists. Looking at great artworks and thinking how they made it, makes me push myself to their level. I’m sure, marami-rami pang bigas na kakainin, samahan ko na din ng ulam.

3DP: What are your hobbies and where do you see yourself after 5 years?

Eldy Tendero Jr: My 3d modeling started as a hobby and it still is. After doing 3D in our office, i still continue at home. It’s really fun.

After 5 years…I am hoping that I’ll be doing animation and see my artwork move.

3DP: Is there anything you would like to say. Any advice, tips or few words to the rest of the 3DPinoy community?

Eldy Tendero Jr:My advice? Keep modeling, challenge yourself with anything even if you think it’s impossible. Ask for tips and read tutorials (that’s the reason why 3DPinoy is here). Remember, reading tutorials is just a guide. I find it much effective that applying the tutorial with your own scene and not the tutorial scene itself and it is a good practice to do things without using any plug-ins.

To 3DPinoy, thanks a lot! Good luck to all of us and more power and Mabuhay tayong lahat!
